This flashlight would be better sold that the dollar store. It's a piece of junk. We've thrown it in the trash, since I don't have the time to send it back for a refund.

I bought this "from Santa" for my 3 year old daughter who LOVES playing with flashlights. She was very excited when she saw it. However, the batteries don't seem to fit well enough inside, so it doesn't always connect with the metal part inside, thus not turning on. The feel of the plastic feels extra cheap too. I don't usually complain about products, but I would recommend getting a regular flash light in a fun color rather than this Dora flashlight. Maybe she can use it as a magic wand...

All my daughter asked Santa for was a purple flashlight. Seriously, she told the guy in the mall that's what she wanted. Because she likes Dora I thought this would be great. She was SO excited when she saw it under the tree Christmas morning. That lasted for 10 minutes which is as long as it worked. That was it. Luckily the keychain flashlight was small consolation. Now the teeny washer that holds it together is missing. So we are flashlight less. Totally disappointing and I won't buy anything from this manufacturer again.

The switch to turn off the flashlight of the molded SB wouldn't switch off. The child didn't care but if you were acutally trying to use this flashlight it would be useless because it runs till the battery dies.

Bunnies By The Bay Bye Bye Buddy Blanket

I bought the blue bunny, Bud, for my 5 mo old son. It is a very well made bunny and I love that the eyes and nose are stitched on. Be warned, though, this is the travel version of their original "buddy blanket." This is the "bye bye buddy blanket." It is 10.5" instead of 16". It also has velcro tabs in the back, presumably to attach it to a carseat or stroller. I thought I was getting the original, full-size version and was disappointed because I don't particularly want to give him a lovey with rough velcro to take into the crib. Although he won't be able to figure it out now, it won't be long before he will. I am going to go ahead and get the full-size version for the crib. There is also Hare and a Spare, for those who want a better deal for buying both the original and travel version.

We received a similar bunny from the hospital where my daughter was born, except it doesn't have the Velcro loop and it is embroidered with the hospital's logo. She became incredibly attached to the bunny, so much so that it was getting really worn out and dirty looking, no matter how much I cleaned it. Therefore I took to the interwebs to find a lookalike replacement, and here we are. The bunny is exactly the same as the one distributed by Swedish Hospital in Seattle, except that this version has a Velcro loop so that it can be attached to a stroller or crib. The Velcro is pretty rough around the edges and I worry that it will scratch our kiddo. I considered cutting off the entire loop, but my daughter doesn't seem to notice or mind it. I am able to use both bunnies interchangeably, so that's all that matters.

My 7 month old twins got this for christmas and they love theirs! At night I put it next to them with their pacifier and they hold it in front of their face and rub their cheeks on the super silky lining of the bunny. It helps soothe them and they fall asleep holding it. I think its definitely going to be their "lovey" and I doubt they'll grow tired of them anytime soon.

On a side note, I looked into getting this "bye bye" bunny as opposed to the larger more expensive version. I actually like this one better because it is easier for them to put in their hands and less risk of the blanket getting stuck on their face. The larger version is almost too big, and I hated that the silk part of it is in 2 separate pieces. This one is much better because the silk is one solid piece of silk blanket hooked onto the rabbit head.

My parents gave my now 20 month old daughter one of these when she was born. She grew attached to it around 9 months old. We have ordered 8 of them over the past months. We had to have spares around when one had to be washed. And others for daycare, car, etc. She sucks and plays with the tag underneath the head. They wear well in the wash. My 8 month old son likes these cars. I wouldn't say that he can't live without them or anythingbut he isn't one of those "this is my favorite toy!" kind of kids. Skip Hop Alphabet Zoo Activity Gym

Just received this as a gift from my sister in law for my 5 month old and so far he loves it! The little pillow is great for tummy time, as it props him up nicely. The mat is so soft and plush and very good quality, which makes feel better knowing that he's comfortable. The littler animals are just too cute! He loves to coo at the little elephant and giggles at the little lion. He tries to bat the monkey just to hear it rattle. As he starts to get bigger I know he'll be able to interact with the toys much better. For now, he just likes to stare at them. What's also great is that when he gets too big for the activity gym, I can hang the mat on the wall in his room! Love!!!

I did a lot of research before purchasing this because a lot of the mainstream brands can't be trusted with what type of materials they use in construction (nasty plastics), many are toxic and won't even disclose what they've used. While this isn't perfect (I was looking for 100% cotton), it was the best option I could find on the market. Our daughter loves the elephants, both the one that dangles and the one on the mat with the polka-dot ear that crinkles. The whale that has music and the mirror underneath is also a big hit with her. We've had this for a few months now and I've washed the mat a couple times as well as the toys (can't wash the whale, of course) and they've all faired beautifully. Plus, I don't really think it's that much more expensive than some of the other options. For us, it was worth the price. I would definitely recommend and purchase again.

I was looking for something that was gender neutral and a little bit more modern looking, and this product definitely fits the bill.

As a first time mom I've struggled with the overwhelming number of obnoxious themed baby items and the high price tag of anything that isn't. This gym is bright and fun enough for my little girl to love it without being an eyesore for everyone else.

The animals are adorable with a variety of textures and noises that keep her entertained for hours, plus, they're detachable so she can play with them in the car or crib and other toys can be hung in their place when she's needing a change.

I've also been very impressed with how well it has washedI'm a touch on the OCD side of things so the mat and toys have been washed numerous times in the past 5 months but don't show any signs of wear.

I would definitely recommend this!

My daughter was 9 weeks old when we got this for her she seems to love it! All of the colors and the options to hang the animals low or in various spots (you can move them around) so she can kick & hit them are great and she gets a good little exercise session in when she lays on this! I like that it comes w/ the pillow she hates tummy time, but when I use the pillow to prop her a bit, she lasts a little longer. It's a cute mat and overall we're very happy with it. There are even extra loops that you can hang additional toys if you want.

My ten-month old loves this toy. It has kept her attention longer then any other toy she owns. It has three musical settings which are pretty engaging to her. On one setting, the spinning of the ball is directly linked to the music, (the previous reviewer was right about it being one of the least annoying muzak in toydom), so when it stops spinningso does the song. So my baby girl stops whatever she has wandered away to do and goes back and spins it again. And again. And again.

Oh, bonus: it has volume control.

UPDATE: Three years later, baby girl #2 has proven how durable it is. She is somewhat more of a hard slapper then a spinner, but the little toy has held up well. I don't know what it is about this toy, but both my children really has gotten great use out of it.

This toy plays a really cute song that is quite catchy, to me at least. I also own the Leap frog alphabet one. My daughter (8 months) enjoys both but I think this one is more age appropriate for her. As with any toy they are not just going to learn the alphabet or differnt animals without some input on your part. My daughter enjoys any tow that she can spinn, so this was a no brainer.

Pros: Lots of different animal noises, cute and not annoying song, multiple setting for more fun/ learning.

Cons: The ball does not detach like the other leap frog learning ball. It is not as well made either. The other one is made of a soft rubber and is durable and easy to clean. This one is plastic and has a large sticker that goes around it. I haven't had much problem cleaning it so far(3 months), but with drool and a wet cloth to wipe it down I'm not sure how long the sticker will hold up. Also I know it is hard to find all animals starting with the correct letter of the alphabet and put a good noise to it, but some of them are just out there. For instance Umbrella bird, not a bad choice, but then put a bird noise to it instead of the random off the wall noise that they did, who cares if there are more than one bird noise on it.

Overall a really cute toy just wish it was a little higher quality like the other one that they made.

I originally bought this for my 6 month old son because it kept him engaged in the store while I shopped. Once we brought it home, I figured he would become bored with it. I am pleased to say he still plays with it 4 months later.

There are three song features. One that plays the ABC song while the wheel is spinning. One that starts "Spin, spin a letter..." If the wheel stopped spinning on the letter B, the lady's voice says, "B","B", and then a bird chirps. The third features animals that start with each letter of the alphabet. If the wheel stops spinning on the letter C, the lady's voice says, "CAT","CAT" followed by a cat's meow. The tunes are quite catchy and not annoying. My husband and I find ourselves singing the tunes as well. There are two volume options. When the ball is not spinning, no music is beging played, which is a great feature and it teaches cause and effect.

We have decided that this toy is indestructable as well. We use it on his high chair at times to keep him entertained while feeding him. I can't tell you how many times he has pushed this off his high chair, and we were certain it would break. It hasn't broken yet. Have only had to change the batteries. It is also easy to clean. The sticker with the letters and animals is glossy, so it is easy to wipe. The rest of it is hard plastic.

I would definitely recommend this toy! :-)

This toy is cute in the box. But it got played with maybe once. It doesn't hold any of my kids attention, and I have four of all different ages. It was a gift for a birthday, not something I would have bought. I try very hard to buy toys that my kids will really interact with because with four kids you have lots of toys, many that never really get used. Leapfrog makes many great toys that are educational and fun, but you still have to pick and choose for your kids personalities. This might be fun for a young baby, but not for much older than that.

This is my first review ever and oh how deserving this toy is!!! I love the Spin and sing alphabet zoo so much! I bought this toy for my daughter who is 1 year old. It was a Christmas gift. My daughter loves to carry it around the house and it seems very durable. My son is two and he loves to spin the wheel and to say the animals names. There is several ways to play and the music is catchy. It also has TWO volume selections which is nice. Now let me share one more funny thing about this toy. While I definitely agree that these duckies are not accurate for determining the temperature of your little one's bath water (I use a digital thermometer that is made for the bath), these duckies are perfect for those who are searching for tub toys that do not allow for the growth of mold. I bought 4 of these when my daughter was born 4 years ago because the characters were fun and she loved ducks. I just bought 4 more at Target when I saw a tv news segment on the growth of mold in bath squirters. It does not matter how much you try to remove all the water in the squirters, it will never completely dry out inside since the opening to the inside is so tiny. When I saw that tv segment, I cut open a few of the squirters and there was definitely black mold inside of them. I even bleached my toys every so often and still found mold inside of them. Needless to say, they all went into the trash and I went out and got more of these. These are one of the few tub toys available that are safe and I would definitely buy more of these in the future.

This is more of a toy than a safety measure in my house. It doesn't seem reliable or trustworthy. It worked the first couple of times I used it but the letters "H O T" soon lost their sensitivity to heat and ever since then we have kept it strictly as a bath toy.

My daughter has always loved to look at this floating in the bath with her and now that she can grasp items she wants, she loves to play with it, too.

LEGO DUPLO 6760 Let's Go Vroom

My 3 year old received this Lego Duplo "Let's Go! Vroom!" set for her birthday (Lego Duplo 6760). She had already been playing with Lego Duplo pieces for some time, so it was not difficult for her to figure out how to build the vehicles. Initially she loved that there was a story book with this set, unlike her other Duplo sets.

The 10-page board book features a simple story involving an airplane and a car. It doesn't have detailed instructions for building since there are only a few pieces, but it does show pictures of how the airplane and car should be assembled. The pieces in the book are to-scale (actual size), so it may be easier for little kids to understand how the pieces fit together.

This is one of three available sets in the Bricks & Books collection as of this review (November, 2012). The other two sets are "Busy Farm" (LEGO DUPLO 6759 Busy Farm) with 15 pieces and "Grow Caterpillar Grow!" (LEGO DUPLO 6758 Grow Caterpillar Grow) with 17 pieces. "Let's Go! Vroom!" has only 12 pieces, but it has a car which is a pretty cool piece.

The quality is great, as you would expect from Lego. A retail price of $12.99 is a bit high for 12 pieces, but part of that price is for the book. If you prefer bricks, then there are other sets (without the book) that are a better value. If you are interested in the book, this is a very cute set.

Now that my preschooler has played with it a few times, I think the novelty has worn off. As expected, the pieces to this set have now been comingled with her other Duplo pieces and the book sits on her bookshelf. Still, it's a cute set that should entertain your child for some time. It was a very nice gift to receive, and I would consider buying it as a gift for another 2-3 year old.

This was very fun for my 3 year old the first couple times we did it, but after that, he was tired of the story, and enjoyed just playing with the blocks by themselves.

I purchased this for my husband to wear to a costume party. It is a good looking costume. The hat was a little squished when we first took it out of the pack, but after ironing it and fluffing it a little it looks good. The package says that this costume is for someone up to 6ft 2 in tall and weighs up to 300 pounds. Since the material is stretchy I say someone who weighs a little over 300lbs could still wear it with no problems.

Haba Color Snake Clutching Toy

I bought this at a local store after letting my son play with it. I let him play with several others which he showed some interest in, but this one I couldn't get out of his hands! As soon as I'd try, he'd just grab it with the other hand, so I knew this was a keeper.

We brought it home and not only did my 5mo old enjoy this, but my 4yr old did as well. In fact, she kept taking it from him because she liked it so much. It's quite fun, you can twist it into all sorts of shapes. There aren't any hard edges and it fits quite well in an infant's hand.

We have quite a number of other toys, but this one is both of my kid's favorite.

This is a great toy! My 4 month old daughter loves it! It's one of her favorites. It's a lighter weight Haba toy so she can't totally knock herself out if she accidentally bops herself with it. She loves mouthing it and twisting it with her hands. Even my older kids (ages 14 and 15) love playing around with it. I would highly recommend this toy.

This is an awesome toy! If you want a nice teether type of toy that will keep your baby's attention this is it! My daughter (8 mo. now) has played with this since she first started holding toys and it has always been a favorite. It is small enough for her to grasp well and the way it moves and bends when she plays with it makes it interesting to her now. She loves to suck on the balls. I usually attach a pacifier clip to it when we are out and attach it to her shirt so she can't drop it. I also love that it doesn't make any noise, it's great for her to play with in church or anywhere that you don't want a rattle sound. All around awesome toy!

We own lots and lots of Haba toys, but this is by far the best teether we have purchased! It kept my 8-monh old's attention for quite a while (which is saying a lot). The Baby Ladybug Stroller Buddy is the cutest soft baby toy in the world. I liked it so much I bought the little lion too. It is colorful and well made.

Button Bunny, Blue

I got this for my son, since it was described as having a blanket like body, but this is the smallest item ever! Not worth the $8 it cost when I purchased it. It's only about 5 inches probably from tip of the ear down to the bottom. The body is not like a blanket, it's a small square piece of cloth that disappears when completely when my son holds it because it is so small. The ears are longer than the body but still don't have much room to grab. If you are looking for a "lovey" look elsewhere. This really is something I would expect to find at a dollar store. The QUALITY is good, and the fabric is organic, but the size leaves much to be desired.

Little Tikes Discover Sounds Cell Phone

We just got this cell phone (rated for 6+ months) for our 11 month old son about a week ago.

Durability:

It has been dropped from heights, thrown across the room, beaten onto the cement outside, and drooled on a lot. And I can't find a scratch on it. It's very durable.

Sound:

This toy is much quieter than many other child toys we have. This is a huge thing for us since some toys just seem SO loud. It has a child saying the numbers when the numbers are pressed and has three set sounds for each of the green and red phone buttons.

What my child thinks:

I know this is still his newest toy but my son seems to like it very much. He gets ahold of my cell phone about half as much since we got this one. He likes dragging it around with him so that must be a five star infant rating!

*EDIT* We've had this phone for 3 years now and had to change the batteries recently for the first time. It still works great and after being not played with for many months, it's become a new/old favorite for my son to play pretend. I expect it will last through both our kids.

This phone has taken a beating over time and doesn't have a scratch on it. The thing I love most of all is the volume. It is pretty quiet. My baby can hear it just fine and press the buttons over and over with out it getting on anyone's nerves.

This rolling cart is so cute! It has colorful painted wooden toolshammer, saw, screwdriver and ball to hammer through holes. It also has a cute little carpenter doll and his special storage place. The toy is very high quality and from a very reputable german toy company. It is sturdy, well made, colorful and easy and fun to play with. It came all put together in a large boxso that was nice before christmas. Highly recommend anything from this company.
